It's about shopping in Cebu or Mactan Island. Other places might be different, as closer you are to the country sites. For general, all you need you can buy here, but sometimes you have to know where and when.
Our daily needs like bread, sugar and rice we buy in the public market. It's close to our home and we can buy the goods coming fresh from the region. Or we buy some goods in one of the nearby supermarkets. On Mactan Island you can find 3 supermarkets. The Nueva close to the public market, the Gaisano close to the City Hall and The Marina Mall close to the Airport..

For other goods we go to SM or Ayala Supermall in Cebu. There you can find all and everything, clothes, furniture's, shoes, supplies and appliances.
We like the place also, because of its long Fiesta Strip and the new Northwing Strip at Ayala, where we can have a sit, a shadow place and we join a brewed coffee and sometimes lunch too. The new terraces at the Ayala Mall are now competing with the SM Northwing.
If you like to get some more specific informations about shoping and the day to day expenses, then we recommend to visit www.liveCebu.com. You know we do not paste and copy information's which are already presented.
Just don't think, that Malls are places of silence. It is loud, from every where sound is bothering you. Not as you might think that it is the same chilling background music, which you know from your hometown, no that's not the Filipino way. If you can't accept this, than better don't go shopping. And don't expect to much service, the staff is mostly focused on themselves and you might be the one who disturbs them while dancing to the music or clearing their make ups. The worst place in that case is "Gaisano" located on Mactan Island.
Klaus will stay alive.....there is coffee.
Of course in every Supermall you can get a Starbucks coffee. But who likes to travel 20 kilometers after getting awake? No doubts any more - there is coffee.
The coffee from Davao u can get 2 weeks after it is picked up very fresh. But listen.... you have to buy it when u see it... it’s very seldom.
Although it cost’s only one third (185 p/500g) of an imported coffee. You can get it in 4 different kinds.
There are also lots of coffee shops around here, so the real taste of coffee is also available in the Philippines. Not everywhere but close to the Malls we are sure that you will find one.
It's up to you to find out which Shop you prefere. Most common is the Starbuck's, Bo's Cafe, and Cafe de France and the Figaro.
We still did not discovered a buyable Espressomachine for our dayly use. The beens for that we found already. Sorry for all those who, expected also some information's about beer. All Klaus can say is: Yes there is beer. But no idea, what it is like.
Close to the Plantationbay Resort we found it. Yes, really. The Restaurant of the Haruhay Dream Resort offers a variety of German and Austrian meals and of course "Sauerkraut". Whow...we are going to check it out...meal by meal..hmmm. Look for yourself here.
A steak ...... . a real Rib Eye steak.
Klaus wouldn't stay alive without one. That's for sure, so it was a real challenge to find a real one.
And everything was perfect in the restaurant of Porto Fino Beach Resort not that far from home on Mactan Island. The service, the atmosphere, the surroundings and the meat were perfect. Also the price....350 P.
Actually, since they installed a wide screen TV, it's not really that kind of perfect. Now the staff enjoys watching Movies or is bothering the customers with music channels. Before it had been a nice silent background music, which fitted to the nice surroundings.
The Steak is still perfect, but that's it. Now we are trying to find a place which fits to us. We will let you know, when we found it.
