How to find a maid for cleaning and housekeeping in the Philippines.

If you have decided to settle down and retire in the Philippines, you might want to take your time to find a partner and in the meanwhile you like to have someone who does the cleaning takes care for your house or condominium. Someone who cleans and is able to prepare you a meal and do the housekeeping. Then you might want to hire and find a maid.

Of course you can hire and find a housekeeping service or maid even if you are living together with your new filipina partner or wife to have some help with the daily needs like cleaning at home.

What do you need to know about hiring a housekeeping service or maid?

Since June 2013 there is a new law in place the Kasamabahay Law (RA No. 10361) which means "with you in the house" It basically means there is a lot more paperwork to do at your side and at the side of your house helper or maid just to have a housekeeping service for you as employer.

Agencies can now be a great alternative to hire a housekepping service or maid, since they are considered to be the employer and have to take care that the requirements of the new law are fulfilled. Local Agencies not far from the place where you want to settle down, should be the best choice, as they are close and in case, you need to contact them or you need a replacement for your house helper or maid.

Where to find an Agency for your housekeeping services or to hire your maid?

Those agencies, you can find in classified ads in the newspaper or online at portals like OLX and Sulit.

Since obeying rules and paperwork is not really the Filipino way, you will still find a house helper or maid asking around in your neighborhood or friends who have been here in the Philippines for a while.

Alternatives to find a maid or housekeeping service

Since obeying rules and paperwork is not really the Filipino way, you will still find a house helper or maid asking around in your neighborhood or friends who have been here in the Philippines for a while.

So if you do it this way keep in mind that there is a law to obey and you might have missed to do the necessary paper work. Also keep in mind if you as foreigner don't obey those rules, you are more vulnerable as in the same situation your Filipino neighbor would be.

Better take that new burden of paperwork and stay safe.
